Project: Public Service Announcement; Final Motion Graphics Length: 0:30; (3.9 MB sample) Music: "Saving Sight," original composition by Hafiz Huda Voice Talent: Deb Heitmann
I was fortunate enough to be asked to attend the graduate section of Final Motion Graphics during my last quarter at SCAD. Each quarter, members of the class produce commercial spots for local organizations in need of recognition and funding. The top ones from the class make it on the air. Prevent Blindness Georgia is an affiliate of Prevent Blindness America, a non-profit organization dedicated to stopping preventable eye diseases. The Savannah Chapter specifically focuses on screening 5 year-old children at schools and day care centers in the area. My piece used the metaphor of building blocks in relation to a child's early education. At a young age, 80% of what a child learns is visual. A strong visual foundation promotes strong learning. The final tagline reads, "Prevent Blindness Georgia... building a bright future through the eyes of a child." Functioning on many levels, I had to script, storyboard, and coordinate talent and studio space to film and edit this commercial spot. I wrote an original score for the promo and redesigned the identity for the organization which was used in all the pieces. In the end, my spot was one of the top three chosen to be played on air. It was really a great feeling because I was the only undergraduate in my class. ©2001, Hafiz Huda, lostpear.com |
